Although we manufacture aluminium entrance doors, glass – whether used in the door leaf, as a sidelight or as a transom light – lies at the heart of our range. Its versatility allows you to tailor the entrance to suit your own taste.

ELEGANT SOLUTIONS FOR EVERY HOME

Glass front doors brighten the space with natural light and give the entrance real presence, while motif or ornamental glass ensures privacy. At the same time, Inotherm entrance doors deliver superior security along with exceptional thermal and acoustic insulation.

Glass can be incorporated in various parts of the entrance. It can be used subtly as an insert in the door leaf, or as a larger feature in a sidelight or transom light. If the glass area exceeds 2.5 m², it can be reinforced with a vertical bar or crossbar to ensure stability, allowing almost unlimited possibilities for designing the entrance.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND GLASS ENTRANCE DOORS

Whatever the motif or ornamental pattern, the glass in aluminium entrance doors can be supplied as standard or upgraded to toughened or laminated safety glass, the latter offering the highest level of security.

STANDARD GLASS (FLOAT)

Smooth, translucent glass that serves as the base material for all decorative and security applications.

TEMPERED GLASS (ESG)

Heat-treated glass that is 4–5 times stronger than standard glass. If it breaks, it shatters into small, compact particles, reducing the risk of injury.

SAFETY LAMINATED GLASS (VSG)

Multiple panes of glass bonded with a safety film. When broken, the glass holds together, preventing injury and enhancing burglar protection.

THREE PANES OF PERFECTION

Each pane of glass has its own job to do. The inner and outer panes deliver safety and insulation, while the central pane unlocks decorative freedom. The choices are:

  • Inner and outer pane: standard or safety laminated, both with an insulating coating.
  • Central pane: standard or safety laminated, plain or finished with motifs or ornamental patterns.

EXCEPTIONAL SECURITY FROM THE START

Those film scenes where a burglar taps the glass and waltzes straight in are far more fiction than fact when it comes to premium glass front doors.

And because glass quality plays a key role in the overall performance of the door, we have built in above-standard security from the outset.

  • The glass consists of three panes, each with an above-average thickness of 6 mm.
  • Upgrade with toughened or safety laminated panes for the highest level of protection.
  • Burglar-proof security with RC2 and RC3 certification.

THERMAL INSULATION PERFECTLY MANAGED

You don’t have to sacrifice light to enjoy energy savings. Inotherm glass doors combine superior thermal insulation with a choice of light transparency levels.

  • The inner and outer panes feature a special insulating coating.
  • The space between the panes is filled with argon to further reduce heat loss.
  • The energy efficiency is outstanding, with a thermal conductivity coefficient of only 0.5 W/m²K (among the best in the industry).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Can I customise the size and motif of the glass in the door?  

If you choose a door model with glass in the configurator, you can select from a range of predefined motifs and/or ornamental glass options. However, if we are creating a bespoke door based on your own design, you have complete freedom to determine the dimensions, shape and style of the glass.   

Which type of glass lets you see outside while maintaining a high degree of privacy?

If you want a glass entrance door that lets you see outside while maintaining privacy, dark grey parsol glass is the ideal choice. It limits visibility into your home while still letting in plenty of light to keep the room bright. The glass remains consistently effective in all lighting conditions, regardless of the level of ambient light.

Can the glass in the door be replaced?  

While the glass in the sidelights can easily be replaced at home or on site, replacing the glass in the door leaf is a more complex process that has to be carried out in our manufacturing facility, as the door leaf has to be dismantled, and most components replaced. Therefore, for a fixed additional fee, we provide a completely new door leaf.

How secure are glass entrance doors anyway?

All Inotherm entrance doors, including those featuring glass elements, are manufactured to the highest quality standards.For added peace of mind, we recommend upgrading to safety laminated glass, which remains intact even when broken, making forced entry significantly more difficult.

What is the price of a glass entrance door?

Inotherm entrance doors are made to measure, so the price depends on the configuration and your preferences. Once you submit a request via the online configurator or create a door with a sales consultant in our showroom, you will then receive a full price overview for your chosen glass entrance door.
